Newhall Foundation Awards Mental Health Grant for After School Kids
We are delighted to announce that we have received a grant of $25,000 from The Henry Mayo Newhall Foundation to support the mental health counseling needs of the children in our After School program. For years FACES SF's Family Support Program has provided mental health services, including crisis intervention and case management, to the children ages 3 to 5 in our Bayview preschool. But with limited staff, we were unable to provide these critical services to the After School children, ages 5 through 12. The Newhall Foundation grant provides bridge funding for FACES SF to hire mental health staff to work with our school-age kids as we develop a more sustainable solution.
New Bus Will Give After School Kids a Big Lift
The children in our After School program got a big surprise the other day when a shiny white bus rolled onto the playground at our Bayview site. FACES SF purchased the vehicle for use on field trips and outings. The bus will enable us to provide safe travel for 8 children ages 5-12 and expands our capacity to offer field trips to twice as many children as before. Funding for the bus was provided by a generous grant from the Bothin Foundation. Watch the reaction of the kids below when the bus arrived on site!
